UK MD - ONLINE B2C OFFERING - LONDON An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a digital professional, with a strong B2C marketing background, to assume control of European wide, market leading subscription based business, with a view to helping with the continued success they have experienced in the UK and continuing the growth they have experienced since entry in 2008. Reporting directly to the group CEO, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of the B2C & B2B business. With full P&L responsibility you will significantly drive growth from its current € 6 million turnover. Heading up the team of 30+ in the UK, you will work closely with the parent company in Germany, capitalising the central resources while applying local skills in place. Your key areas of responsibility include: Business to consumer
Customer acquisition – optimisation of registrations & costs across online & offline channels with the key growth area for the next few years being TV & online channels.
Retention – on-going engagement of customers across all channels to improve activity rates, build loyalty and drive repeat purchase and revenues. Thorough understanding of data, segmentation and trigger based marketing campaigns necessary.
Product - delivering on-going innovations including technical enhancements (e.g. CHAT, web streaming) to promotional innovations (e.g. price and promotion tests) to web site enhancements (audio & video clips) to ensure we remain one step ahead of the competition.
The customer experience – optimising every customer touch point from the website & customer journey to call centre interactions and reader teams.
Reporting and analysis – ability to slice and dice data & reports to deepen your understanding of the customer &/or campaigns and optimise accordingly. Responsible for reporting on monthly KPI’s to the board. Responsible for overall P&L, budget & reforecasting.
Business development and business to business
Development of an online affiliate programme for smaller to midsize sites in order to generate traffic and registrations for the direct business
Driving new business opportunities (to include potential partners, product launches, new territories and especially new category extensions)
Optimising existing partner business
You will be supported by a team of 30+ staff who work across multiple locations & departments including finance, technical, product, call centres, customer services, new business & marketing. You will have 6 direct reports. Key Skills and Strengths

Core direct to consumer skills
Strong knowledge of both offline and online channels.
Proven track record in integrated direct response channels & campaign management. Creative appraisal, print buying & ROI optimisation should be second nature to you
Drive activation rates & customer engagement through innovative retention campaigns both online, offline & via SMS
Proactive and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do attitude’
Good people skills – both internally managing & motivating staff and externally with partners, suppliers & key stakeholders
Highly numerate, with a good knowledge of Excel
Strong organisational skills with an ability to juggle various projects and deliver to tight deadlines
Good presentation skills, with an ability to influence both internally and externally. A good knowledge of power point is essential.

Ability to work as both a team or individually
Background The ideal candidate will have gained most of his/her experience in a direct to consumer business. This can either have been in an online business that also undertook a certain amount of offline acquisition and retention activities, or in an offline business with a strong online channel. The ideal candidate has gained at least first experience as a general manager while demonstrating good skills in the areas detailed above. Candidate should have a good knowledge of direct response and partnership marketing channels. Sector is less important as skills are transferrable however an in-depth understanding of online is necessary. An understanding of subscription marketing or member models would be valuable. Essential

An in-depth understanding of direct response marketing across on and offline channels. Must be cost driven and familiar with optimising spend across channels to increase volumes & reduce cost.
Experience in optimising customer life cycle via trigger based marketing – driving activity rates & revenue per customer.
Excellent people skills – including management of internal staff to negotiating with the board
Good communication skills + powers of persuasion + an ability to objection handling
Desirable
Knowledge of TV in the UK – including media opportunities, key contacts (studios / channels / media + technical) and negotiation parameters
Knowledge of premium rate telephony environment
Good grasp emerging technologies and how they can be commercially applied to business
